Bilingualism and Disability ( KQED Podcast)

I started this project because I thought that sharing my process of learning my parents’ languages might be helpful for other people. At the time, I didn’t really know anything about heritage language learning. I hadn’t even heard of it. Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how helpful sharing this process has been for me. Through this project, people have shared their stories, resources, and ideas with me. I appreciate that it’s helped connect me with people doing incredible work with language and identity.

Up until now, I’ve been reluctant to share other people’s work in my updates but I’m going to try doing it more often in hopes that it’ll bring more interesting information and people my way (also because I don’t always have life-changing news to share).

This is a recent KQED podcast that my friend recently shared with me. It’s a story about bilingualism and disability within a family. I have no involvement with this episode but it really resonated with me so I wanted to share it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
